TPC EVENTS
GOLD TEE RULE

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the ability to play different tees in TPC competitions since the email sent last week.  Please read the following as there is important information regarding this:

The TPC is an organization designed to create competitive golf events for the members of SLCC.  As some of our members become more seasoned, the white tees create more of a challenge.  For as long as I can remember there has been a "90" rule where if your Age + Handicap = 90 you could move to the Gold Tees for competition.  It was brought up that 90 seems an arbitrary figure and no one is aware of it's origins.  Many of our TPC members would like to play the Gold Tees on a regular basis as it makes the game more enjoyable for them but they don't quite hit the "90" mark.

The TPC Committee has taken their concerns seriously and has had extensive communications within the Committee as well as with many members both younger and older trying to find a solution that maintains the competitive nature of TPC but addresses the needs of our seasoned members.  We don't want TPC members to feel that they have no chance in our competitions and it would be a lose/lose situation if we lost them from our group.

For the remaining 2020 Season, the TPC Committee has decided on the following:

For TPC Major Events:  President's Cup, Blazer Matches, TPC Net and Gross Championships.  These will be White Tee Events.  The exception is that teams that qualified in the Blazer under the "90 rule" will be allowed to continue to play the Gold Tees in this year's Tournament.  Players that qualify under the "90" rule for the President's Cup will be allowed to play from the Gold Tees.  In  both cases appropriate handicap adjustments will be made per the GHIN website.

For TPC Minor Events:  2 Man Scramble, Closing Day, Weekday Stableford Challenge, and Regular Weekend Games, Players may elect to play the Gold Tees if desired.

These decisions will be reviewed over the winter and may be modified for play in 2021.

If you are electing to play the Gold Tees in this weekend's 2-man Scramble Event, please let the Pro Shop know so the scorecards can be marked correctly.

We would also expect our members to accept these decisions honoring Golf's Spirit of the Rules.  We would be disappointed to have low handicap players deciding to play from the Gold Tees to create an advantage.  .

The Players Club Rules & Points

Teeing Ground

The White Tees shall be the designated tees for all Tournament Players Club events unless otherwise specified. The USGA Handicap Manual Rule 3-5 (Players Competing from Different Tees or Men and Women from Same Tees) shall be used for all net events. Players may elect to play the Blue Tees or if the player’s age and handicap index amount to 90 or more, they may elect to play from the Gold Tees.

Ties

In the advent of a tie, money and points will be split equally amongst those players/teams whom are tied.

Match Play Events

Members who sign up for season long match play events should take into consideration their personal and professional schedules which may hinder their availability when scheduling matches.  If a match is not played by a deadline, both sides are disqualified unless one side forfeits due to being unavailable.

The Gimmie Rule

In the spirit of Pace of Play, during "first tee events" the Gimmie Rule will be in effect. When a ball comes to rest within the width of a flag (approximately 21" measured from the edge of the hole nearest the ball), the player's next shot may be conceded.  If the player chooses to putt from that position, said player forfeits the Gimmie Rule for the remainder of that hole and must hole the ball out.

The "Gimmie Rule" shall NOT be in effect for special tournaments or events such as Club Championships, Season Long Match Play Events, The Member-Member, Two Person Scramble, Opening and Closing Day Events, or any other event that the TPC Tournament Committee selects.

Blind Draws

In the event that a “Blind Draw” is needed in team play, the Pro Shop shall select at random a unique Blind Draw for each person/team in need of a player. Players selected as a Blind Draw, may place for their original team as well as with the team in which they are being used as a “Blind Draw”.   In that instance, that player will only receive the higher points and money amount won.  Their lower points and prize money won will be discarded. The Pro Shop will always attempt to pair individual players together rather then utilizing “Blind Draws”.

Scorecards

Score Cards must be properly filled out with each players Last Name, First Initial, & Course Handicap.  The Player/Team is responsible for dotting each players card, figuring hole-by-hole nets scores, and adding total individual and team scores.  Only if a “Blind Draw” is needed does a team not need to figure their team score.  Score Cards must be turned in on the day of play.

How Points & Prizes are Determined

In order to post a score in a TPC event, TPC Members must play with another TPC Member. In order to determine which  “Tier” a particular TPC event qualifies for, the following charts will be used. The Pro Shop will count the entire number of Tournament Players Club Players that play on a particular day of a TPC Event other than those that “option out”  All prize money will be paid out in the form of Pro Shop Credit.

TPC Stableford Challenge

The 2020 TPC Stableford Challenge. The league will be 18 weeks long running
Tuesdays – Thursdays from April 28th – August 28th.

You will be permitted to post 1 score per week (Tuesday – Thursday) and the first score you post will be the tallied one.

We will take your 9 best stableford scores over the 18 weeks and total them to crown our 2018 TPC Stableford Challenge Champion.

We will pay out the Top 8 places at the conclusion of the league!

Simply sign up on the tee sheet Tuesday – Thursday and post a OFFICAL scorecard at completion of round. All players must play with another TPC Member for the score to count.
